Passive Protection equipments

Passive lightning air terminal unlike Active lightning one(ESE) does not have any reaction against lightning strike . Hence, it is called passive , inactive or simple .
Passive lightning rod , in fact , is what Benjamin Franklin invented in 1752 to avoid lightning damages and has also been used so far.
According to Standard, Lightning protection system consists of three parts: Air Termination, Down Conductor and Earth termination Earth Termination.
The only major difference between passive and active systems is the air terminal type . Air terminal in passive systems can be usually in the form of rods, hanging wires or mesh ( Faraday cage) .
International Standard IEC 62305-3 ( Part III ) as the main reference of the basic principles of passive protection systems ,describes the design, installation and maintenance of the system. In addition, the standards like BS6651, NFPA780 and DIN VDE 0185 are also used .

  • High Sensitivity Electromechanical Lightning Counter

This counter specifically has been designed for passive systems with multiple down conductor or for those active systems in which down conductor has interconnections with structure's metallic parts.

- Does not need external power supply

- Current Intensity Range: 100 A (8/20 µs) - 100 kA (10/350 µs), (EN 50.164-6:2009)
